Creative Workshops at Yeşilova Mound

Originn develops workshops, programs, and collaborations that bring together creative production, communities, and different disciplines. One example of these initiatives is the workshop program realized in collaboration with Bornova Municipality and the Yeşilova Mound Visitor Center.

Located in İzmir, Yeşilova Mound is the oldest known settlement in the city. Before its discovery in 2003, İzmir’s history was thought to date back no more than 5.000 years. However, archaeological findings from Yeşilova Mound revealed that the area has a settlement history of approximately 8.500 years, making İzmir one of the oldest settlements in Anatolia.

Opened to visitors in 2014, the Yeşilova Mound Visitor Center invites visitors on a journey 8.500 years into the past. Guided by experts, the site functions as both a cultural and educational center, welcoming hundreds of visitors daily. It also serves as a living cultural space, hosting concerts, ceremonies, exhibitions, and various events.

In 2017, Originn organized a series of workshops that brought together designers and individuals engaged in creative production with the historical context of Yeşilova Mound. Through these workshops, new encounters and learning experiences were created at the intersection of archaeology, design, and creative production.

To visit Yeşilova Mound or to learn more about the excavation site and the Visitor Center, you can access detailed information through the official website and communication channels of the Yeşilova Mound Visitor Center.
